home life

Maryville, TN

My parents moved back to Tennessee when I came to college.  It is weird not going back to where all my friends are, but I love being here.  I enjoy seeing my parents garden, build and create new things (my dad bales hay!).  I hope as I get older I do not stop doing new things and exploring possibilities, as cliche as it sounds.  I love when people are curious and fearless enough to turn away from a scenario that is okay, comfortable and good for the sake of something exciting, challenging and better.
It's funny how hard it is to make that shift.   One of my "strengths" is "adaptability", but I always dread a big change before it happens.   It is so easy to settle into what is in front of me.  However, I love it when the change actually takes place.   My negative or fearful expectations always lie to me.
Hopefully I will learn to stop listening to them.

Paigey

 Waco, TX

Paige in her natural habitat.  I pulled up in my car to find her sprawled across the swinging porch at a coffee shop with her book.  "I just need to sweat, she explained, "I've been sitting in an office from 8-5, 5 days a week!".  I cannot say I immediately appreciated the sweltering heat more after she said that, but I am trying to appreciate the beauty of being able to ride my bike in the cool mornings and sweat as I walk to (and sit in) my car.

It's all about thankfulness for the little things.  Even the sweating.
